Consumer:

The use of factor IX complex concentrates has been associated with the development of thromboembolic complications. Patients at increased risk for thrombosis include those undergoing surgery, post surgery, with known liver disease, and with signs of fibrinolysis, thrombosis, or disseminated intravascular coagulation. When administering factor IX complex to these high-risk patients, monitor for early signs of consumptive coagulopathy with appropriate laboratory testing. Only administer factor IX complex to patients when the benefits outweigh the risks.
