Consumer:In clinical studies, HCV genotype 3-infected patients with cirrhosis receiving daclatasvir in combination with sofosbuvir for 12 weeks demonstrated reduced sustained virologic response (SVR12) rates. In addition, in hepatitis C virus (HCV)/hepatitis B virus (HBV) coinfected patients, the use of daclatasvir may cause a reactivation of the HBV. Some cases have resulted in fulminant hepatitis, hepatic failure, and death. It is recommended to test all patients for evidence of prior HBV infection before initiating therapy with daclatasvir. Close monitoring for signs and symptoms of hepatitis flare or HBV reactivation is recommended during HCV treatment with daclatasvir and during after treatment follow-up. Consider appropriate management for patients with HBV infection as clinically indicated.
